“This” và “These“

Chúng ta sử dụng This (số ít) và These (số nhiều) như những đại từ:

- Để nói về người hoặc vật gần chúng ta:

This is a nice cup of tea.

Tạm dịch: đây là một tách trà ngon.

Whose shoes are these?

Tạm dịch: Những chiếc giày của ai đây?

- Để giới thiệu người:

This is Janet.

Tạm dịch: Đây là Janet.

These are my friends, John and Michael.

Tạm dịch: Đây là những người bạn của tôi, John và Michael.

Chúng ta không nói “These are John and Michael”

Chúng ta dùng “This is John and Michael”

- Để giới thiệu chính chúng ta khi bắt đầu nói chuyện trên điện thoại.

Khi nào chúng ta sử dụng “That” và “Those”?

Chúng ta sử dụng that (số ít) và those (số nhiều) như những đại từ:

- Để nói về người hoặc vật không gần chúng ta

This is our house, and that’s Rebecca’s house over there.

Tạm dịch: Đây là nhà chúng ta, và đó là nhà của Rebecca ở đằng kia.

Those are very expensive shoes.

This, These, That, Those thường đi chung với những danh từ.

Chúng ta sử dụng This, These, That, và Those để chỉ trạng thái gần hoặc xa. Chúng ta sử dụng This và These cho những người và vật ở gần chúng ta:
