The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), originally called the World Wildife Fund, is a non-governmental organisation. It was set up in 1961,and today it is the world's largest environmental organisation. It aims to stop the process of destroying the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans respect nature. Much of the work of WWF focuses on the survival of endangered animals and the protection of their natural habitats. These animals include the Indian elephant, the gorilla, the giant tortoise and the giant panda. Currently, WWF has 5 million supporters worldwide. It works in more than 100 countries and supports around 1,300 environmental projects. |

The Save the Elephants (STE) is a non-profit organisation. It was set up in 1993 in Iain Douglas-Hamilton, and today it is one of the world's largest organisation to save elephants worldwide. It aims to make sure elephants do not die out and protect the habitats in which elephants are found. Much of the work of STE focuses on stopping the illegal hunting of elephants especially in Africa and Asia, working together with scientists and experts to conduct research on elephant behaviour, raising people's awareness through films, television and new media sources. Currently, STE works in 40 countries and supports 335 projects. |

I think that protecting the environment is the responsibility of all the people in the world. We need to act out some things before it‟s too late. In my opinion, I‟d like to share you some possible solution for this problem.
- Use public mode of transportation: Encourage people to use more and more public modes of transportation to reduce pollution.
- Save energy: Switch off fans and lights when you are going out. Large amount of fossil fuels are burnt to produce electricity. You can save the environment from degradation by reducing the amount of fossil fuels to be burned.
- Understand the concept of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle: Do not throw away items that are of no use to you. In-fact reuse them for some other purpose. For e.g. you can use old jars to store cereals or pulses.
- Emphasis on clean energy: Clean energy technologies like solar, wind and geothermal are more and more popular. Government should encourage and favour the people to use it.
- Use electric saving devices: This is a simple and effective that all of us can do right now. Several attempts are being made on a personal, industrial and governmental levels to save our environment in the world now. You and me, we need to contribute to save our green planet.
