TỔNG HỢP CÁC TRƯỜNG HỢP ĐẶC BIỆT CỦA WISH

Câu điều kiện WISH  là câu diễn tả ước muốn, nguyện vọng của một người nào đó về sự việc ở tương lai, hiện tại và cả quá khứ. Bởi vậy, câu điều kiện cũng được chia ra làm ba loại tương ứng.

Ví dụ

• I wish I would go to Da Nang in the next summer

Tôi ước mình sẽ được đi Đà Nẵng vào mùa hè năm sau

• I wish I went to her house

Tôi ước gì là mình đã đến nhà cô ấy nhưng trên thực tế hiện tại tôi đã không đến

Cách sử dụng cấu trúc WISH có sự khác biệt khi thì mà người sử dụng nó ở quá khứ, hiện tại hay tương lai

2.1. Cấu trúc wish ở quá khứ

- Ý nghĩa: Cấu trúc wish ở quá khứ thể hiện những mong muốn khi nghĩ về một chuyện trong quá khứ, thường bày tỏ sự tiếc nuối khi thời gian đó, chúng ta không thực hiện hành động được nhắc đến.

- Cấu trúc 

(+) S + wish(es) + S + had + VPII/ed + O (-) S + wish(es) + S hadn’t + VPII/ed + O

- Ví dụ

- I wish I had meet him in the airport

(Tôi ước rằng tôi đã gặp anh ấy ở sân bay.)

- I wish she hadn’t dissapointed about me

(Tôi ước rằng bà ấy đã không thất vọng về tôi.)

2.2. Cấu trúc wish ở hiện tại

- Ý nghĩa: Cấu trúc wish ở hiện tại thể hiện mong ước hiện đang không có thật, thường là bày tỏ sự tiếc nuối khi đã không thực hiện một điều gì đó.

- Cấu trúc

(+) S wish(es) + S + V(past) + O (-) S wish(es) + S + didn’t + V + O

- Ví dụ

• I wish you were here

Tôi ước rằng cô ấy ở đây lúc này

• I wish the weather wasn’t hot like this

Tôi ước thời tiết không nóng như thế này

1.3. Cấu trúc wish ở tương lai

Ý nghĩa: Cấu trúc wish ở tương lai thể hiện những mong ước trong thời gian sắp tới. Chúng ta sử dụng câu này với mong muốn ai đó, sự việc gì đó sẽ tốt đẹp hơn.

Cấu trúc:

(+) S+ wish(es) + S + would + V1 (-) S + wish(es) + S + wouldn’t + V1

- Ví dụ:

- I wish I would pass the exam

(Tôi ước tôi sẽ đỗ kì thi này.)

- I wish you would become a good teacher

(Tôi ước rằng tôi sẽ trở thành một thầy giáo tốt.)

3.1. Cách sử dụng IF ONLY thay thế cho cấu trúc WISH

Nhìn chung, IF ONLY cũng được sử dụng tương tự như WISH. Chúng ta chỉ cần thay “WISH” bằng “IF ONLY” vào các cấu trúc trên. Tuy nhiên, vẫn có một sự khác nhau nho nhỏ giữa hai từ này. Nếu như “wish” nghĩa là mong ước thì “If only” được hiểu là giá mà, mơ ước thay đổi một điều gì đó. Ước muốn được thể hiện qua “If only” sẽ mạnh mẽ, mãnh liệt hơn. 

- Ví dụ: 

If only he knew the truth.

(Giá mà anh ta biết sự thật.)

3.2. Các trường hợp đặc biệt khác

Trường hợp 1: Đôi khi, người ta sử dụng “wish to” thay vì “want to” để thể hiện ý trang trọng, lịch sự hơn.

VD: I wish to meet the manager

Trường hợp 2: Với “wish” mang ý nghĩa là “muốn”

Với “wish” khi mang nghĩa là “muốn”, ta có thể chia thành hai kiểu câu là muốn làm gì và muốn ai đó làm gì.

a. Wish to do sth (Muốn làm gì)

Ví dụ:

I wish to travel over the world with my family.

(Tôi muốn đi khắp thể giới này cũng gia đình của mình.)

b. To wish sb to do sth (Muốn ai làm gì)

- Ví dụ:

My teacher wishes me to pass the exam

(Cô giáo tôi mong rằng tôi có thể đỗ kì thi.)

Trường hợp 3: Sử dụng “wish” và một cụm danh từ phía sau để đưa ra một lời chúc mừng, mong ước.

- Ví dụ:

We wish you a Merry Christmas

(Chúng tôi chúc bạn có một giáng sinh an lành.)

Trường hợp 4: Khi muốn đưa ra một lời mong ước, cầu chúc cho người khác bằng cách sử dụng động từ, ta sẽ dùng “hope” thay vì “wish. Trường hợp này để phân biệt với “wish + cụm danh từ” phía trên.

- Ví dụ:

We wish you a Merry Christmas à We hope you have a Merry Christmas
